R.W. Martin Inc. History

Over 25 years of aircraft modification and maintenance expertise in Southern California.

Incorporated in 1981, RW Martin Inc. (RWMI) is the evolution of original companies founded by R.W. "Dick" Martin.  Mr. Martin's aviation experience exceeded 50 years of modification, fabrication, repair and flight testing of various aircraft, both simple and complex.  In addition to appropriate FAA flight and technician certifications, Dick Martin held an Honorary Doctor of Engineering, acknowledging his academic and experimental contributions to the aviation community.  Mr. Martin passed away in 2005, but his legacy lives on with the company he inspired.

A restored BearcatIn the early days, RWMI restored classic aircraft rebuilding many of them, literally, with only the data plate as a starting point.  Examples of RWMI's handiwork now reside in museums and private collections across the country.

Located in Southern California, it was a natural progression for the company to be called upon to support the film industry.  Television and movie credits included "Jaws IV", "Always", "Blue Thunder", "Bird on a Wire", "The Rocketeer", and "Waterworld".

DHC-6 Amphibian Twin OtterA special request to repair a DeHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter allowed the true expertise of the RWMI team to shine.  This work eventually lead to a contract for modifying a fleet of Twin Otters in support of a tourist operation and other specialized Twin Otter enhancements.  Today, RWMI supports customers from around the world with modifications, refurbishments, upgrades, and general maintenance services across a wide variety of platforms.
